Team Beluga Air

Local husband and wife team Wes and Angela Head have owned and operated Beluga Air LLC since 2013. Beluga Air has an excellent reputation on the Kenai Peninsula, with a 40-year history of excellent service and safety.

Pilot and Owner

Wes Head

Wes Head comes from a family of pilots – his father, uncles, and brother are all pilots. Much of his youth was spent in the backseat of a Cessna 172 with his brother William; with mom Donna and Dad Bill in front piloting the plane. Wes served three years in the U.S. Army’s elite 1st Ranger Battalion. Afterwards, he attended and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Tulsa with a BA in International Business and Spanish. Wes is an FAA certificated Senior Parachute Rigger and has over 1,200 civilian skydives. Wes earned his F.A.A. Pilot’s certificate in 1988, and has since flown various types of aircraft all over the world. These range from the venerable Piper J-3 “Cub” to a Gulfstream 3 corporate jet. During the winter months he often flies the Beaver's big brother – A De Havilland Twin Otter. Out of all the aircraft he has flown, flying the de Havilland Beaver on floats is by far the most enjoyable. He has over 12,000 accident-free hours and holds an Airline Transport Pilot certificate as well as being a Check Airmen. He is the best pilot in the world (says webmistress/wife/#1 fan Angela). Wes found his home when he arrived in Homer in 2007, and tries to give back to his community as much as he can. He spent 16 years with the Homer Volunteer Fire Department and still holds Firefighter 2, EMT 2 and Fire Engineer Certificates and is a member of the Homer Post of American Legion. Wes speaks fluent Spanish, a bit of Portuguese, and loves meeting people from all over the world. Se Habla Español.

Angela A. Head

Owner/General Manager

Angela originally hails from the desert Southwest and grew up in Northern Arizona, where she worked with her father at the family lumberyard. Here, she acquired her administrative experience and learned about bookkeeping for a small business.

Graduate studies in Marine Biology eventually took Angela to the coast, and she lived in Southern California for eight years, finding work as a biological observer on commercial fishing boats and traveling between Alaska and California seasonally. In 2010, after driving up the Al-Can the second time, she just stayed. Angela has enjoyed her travels all over the world, but for now is loving being a part of Homer’s wonderful community. She loves hiking, jogging, skiing, snorkeling, and being mom to three awesome kids.

Kelsey Childers

Dispatcher

Kelsey is originally from Northern Michigan where she enjoyed a career in Emergency Services as a Firefighter/EMT before moving to Alaska and finding a true passion in Aviation. After spending 5 years in Juneau, Kelsey made her way to beautiful Homer to create more memories with her husband and fur kid Kenai! Her hobbies are all about enjoying the outdoors whether it be backpacking, camping, beach combing, scuba diving, berry picking, hiking, or just being somewhere in nature taking in the views and enjoying wildlife!

Wesley, Isa Mae, & Bill

Pre-flight Entertainment Crew

Isa brings joy to everyone’s day with a smile and is our official office gardener and strawberry connoisseur!

Bill will be hard at work on the dock helping lend a hand with hauling freight and cargo, cleaning the plane, and any other task he can! He has a depth of knowledge about our aircraft and would be glad to share its capabilities!

Wesley often welcomes our day trip guests back to the office. Be sure not to miss him as he will be handing out stickers to returning guests!

Kenai

Office Greeter

Kenai is a 9 year old German Shepherd who absolutely loves to come to work with Mom and greet our guests at the office! He may even see you off on the dock while you embark on a grand adventure or welcome you back to Homer at the days end. He loves pets and thoroughly enjoys being rewarded with treats for a job well done by our Pre-flight Entertainment Crew! During the off season, Kenai takes his well deserved naps by the fireplace. While watching the snow fall, he waits for summer when he can return to his work on Beluga Lake!

  • "Unforgettable Bear Viewing!"

“You could not ask for a more accommodating and friendly staff — Angela & Wes Head. Angela arranged 2 fabulous bear viewing adventures at Hallo Bay, Katmai National Park and Wes was our expert pilot. If you’re in Homer, Alaska do not hesitate in using their many services.”

  • "Could not have had a better day."

“Great experience starting with booking right thru the final debrief. Great communication and instruction from Kelsey and Angela. Wes; the ‘infamous’ ‘Back Country Pilot’s, commentary is a perfect mix of ‘history lessons, funny stories and genuine BS. We are glad we chose Beluga for our day trip to Brooks Falls!!”

  • "Best Bear Viewing"

Exceptional and entertaining pilot, excellent bear guide and the most amazing day watching dozens of bears and a fox up close in Katmai National Park. I’ve lived in Alaska for nearly two decades and have been out there before but this was an exceptional day I will never forget! Thank you Beluga Air, Angela, Wes and Dave!
